Our specially trained clinical pharmacist independent prescriber can administer the shingles vaccine for you.
One in five people who have had chickenpox develop shingles. Shingles can be very painful. For some the pain can last for many years. Shingles is caused by the re-activation of an infection of a nerve and the area of skin that it serves. This usually results in clusters of painful, itchy, fluid filled blisters. These blisters usually affect an area on one side of the body, most commonly the chest but sometimes also the head, face and eye. Shingles can be very painful. Sometimes shingles develops in the eye and can cause severe pain and lead to decreased vision or even permanent blindness in that eye. Most people recover fully, but for some the pain goes on for several months or even years.
At Rutland Late Night Pharmacy we can provide you with a ‘Shingles Vaccine’. This is given by injection in to the upper arm. You will only have the vaccination once and it will protect you from developing shingles. This vaccine will reduce your chances of developing shingles. And if you do go on to have shingles the symptoms are likely to be milder and the illness shorter than if you had not had the vaccine.
More information about the vaccine can be provided at a free consultation at Rutland Late Night Pharmacy. To book an appointment for the Shingles Vaccine consultation please contact our pharmacist on: 01572 723368
